She may not fly higher, further, or faster than others in the Marvel Universe, but the ex-KGB agent they call Black Widow” is still a force to reckon with. Marvel has long had a problem with the way it represents women, from Black Widow's introduction as a sexy secretary to the small role and violent death of Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3. In fact, the first women we meet in all of the MCU were either mothers or lovers.
This is where movie fans learn the term "retcon" as it is reveled that Hawkeye has secretly had a family the whole time and no Black Widow's arrow necklace in Captain America Winder Soldier actually meant nothing. According to Deadline, The Handmaid's Tale actor -T Fagbenle nabbed the role opposite long-time Marvel Cinematic Universe star Scarlett Johansson.
It's been announced for a while that a Black Widow solo film is in the works, but we still have no idea when it's supposed to come out. The second devastating death was Black Widow aka Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johansson) who sacrificed herself so that Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) could live to see his family.
There's also the matter of a future Black Widow movie, which will reportedly begin production in the summer, for a 2020 release. Despite zero confirmations from Marvel, Black Widow is rumored to begin production this summer in London. More importantly, it also marked the first appearance of Yelena Belova , another Red prequel Room graduate who wants to replace Natasha as the Black Widow - and as Russia's top operative.
There's a larger problem in that Natasha has played a supporting (or co-lead) role in each of the seven movies she's been in, rather than headlining her own movie. And in Endgame, it rears its head subtextually when Black Widow sacrifices herself for the Soul Stone.
